Damon Hill, His Race-Worn Omega Speedmaster and the Glory of 1990s Formula 1

Damon Hill is the child of the late British hustling driver Graham Hill, who twice won the Formula 1 drivers’ title and is the lone driver to win the Triple Crown of Motorsport comprising the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix.

In 1996, Damon Hill became Formula 1 World Champion driving for the Williams group and in doing as such, Hill and his dad turned into the main family to have a dad and child both become Formula 1 World champions.

I saw while perusing for photographs on dashing legend Sir Jackie Stewart, that Hill was wearing an Omega Speedmaster chronograph. I have never known about anybody referencing Hill wearing a Speedmaster, so I chose to do begin searching.

Going through pictures, Hill was brandishing the watch as ahead of schedule as 1994 on its tempered steel arm band and he drove with it during races. At a pre-race occasion for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Hill is wearing the watch while talking to individual driver David Coulthard.

You can see it on Hill’s wrist subsequent to dominating a race on the 11th of September 1994.

In 1995, Damon Hill was all the while brandishing the Speedmaster, and fortuitously he is wearing the watch again at the Italian Grand Prix, envisioned close to incredible F1 commentator Murray Walker. The Speedmaster is unmistakably obvious on Hill’s wrist.

In November of 1995, we see Hill met at the Australian Grand Prix by Jackie Stewart and by and by, Hill is wearing his Speedmaster.

We see the watch on Hill’s wrist in 1996, while on the platform at the initial race of the period at the Australian Grand Prix.

Later on, in the 1996 release of the British Grand Prix, we see Hill taking to The Beatles guitarist George Harrison and Hill’s Speedmaster is currently on a cowhide strap.

For the 1997 Formula One season, Damon Hill was all the while wearing the Speedmaster on the calfskin lash. At the Hungarian Grand Prix, you can consider it to be Hill’s wrist as he is putting on his fireproof balaclava.

Hill left the Speedmaster in this arrangement till his retirement in 1999 and the last photo I found of him wearing the watch was dated 2002. Since Hill really wore the Speedmaster while hustling, this gives the watch a super cool degree of provenance and history!
